Goals (and resolutions revisted)

[Before I Start: Ahhh, a fresh new look to the blog. Much better, right?]

I'm a planner. I love planning fun & different things to look forward to in my future. I really don't see myself as a "working for the weekend" girl necessarily, but those weeks when work is dragging, I can't help but be. The way I figure, when the going is good, it's nice to have things to look forward to; when the going is bad, it's even nicer to have things to look forward to.

In addition to planning, and having both short-term and long-term to-do lists constantly, I am also (becoming?) a fan of having goals & trying to reach them. I mean, I guess everyone has far-out goals (job, location, life) but I think I'm talking more about the short-term-caring-about-my-quality-of-life-cause-i-want-it-to-be-amazing goals. I would recommend you do this!--the goal part, not the anal to-do lists :) --

So I thought back to my new years resolutions. It's fun to have a blog where these things are recorded!

2010 Resolutions

* Start a new hobby more seriously (letterpress, card-making,
photography, something of that sort)

* Re-visit an old hobby or something I’ve enjoyed doing in
the past (basketball, soccer, yoga) starting a class next week!

* Volunteer/ Do more community service Make-A-Wish volunteer! Starting work soon!

* Make
new friends met a couple nice girls in my running group/work in progress

* Do more with old friends

* Be healthier (be more conscious of what I’m putting into
my body, exercise (at least 3x a week))

* Run- participate in at least 2 races 5K + finished 1- 5K!

* Be more mindful (present). Appreciate what I have.
Complain less. More positive outlook.

* Try new things. Be more flexible/adventurous.

I'm proud of myself. Many of the resolutions I didn't highlight are works in progress. Like, for example, it's not that I never see old friends, but I'd like to more often. So we'll leave that one, and others, untouched for now.

New goal: Run- try and get up to a 1/2 marathon or 10K race by winter (eek!) and work on the above resolutions!

Beautiful Place

"Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place."

It's hardest to love the ordinary things, she said, but you get lots of opportunities to practice., originally uploaded by Rebecca Tabor Armstrong.
